Tallahassee, FL – Flood watches are now in effect for much of northern Florida as Potential Tropical Cyclone #9 brings the threat of heavy rainfall and significant flooding. Areas across the Panhandle, including Tallahassee and the surrounding counties, could see up to 10-15 inches of rain by Friday, leading to flash floods and river overflows.

The National Weather Service warns that many rivers and streams in northern Florida may quickly rise to dangerous levels. Roads and bridges could become impassable, and low-lying areas face significant risks of inundation. Local authorities have advised residents in flood-prone regions to prepare now, especially those living near rivers, lakes, and canals.

Florida officials are working to clear drainage systems and prepare emergency shelters for potential evacuations. Residents are being urged to secure their homes and move vehicles to higher ground.

With more rainfall expected throughout the week, authorities are cautioning residents to stay off the roads if flooding occurs, as conditions could rapidly deteriorate. Local emergency services are on standby for rescues, should evacuations become necessary.
