Hurricane Mills, TN – Minor flooding is currently affecting the Duck River near Hurricane Mills, with the warning in effect until early Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service issued the warning on Friday at 6:29 PM CDT, urging residents in areas such as Manchester, Shelbyville, Pottsville, Milltown, Columbia, Centerville, and Hurricane Mills to take precautionary actions.
At 6:00 PM on Friday, the river stage was measured at 20.3 feet and is forecasted to rise to 20.4 feet later this evening. Minor flooding is expected, particularly along Tumbling Creek Road east of Highway 13, where floodwaters may reach up to two feet, making some roads impassable.
The river is projected to rise to 23.0 feet early Monday morning before receding to below flood stage by Monday evening.
Authorities are urging residents to avoid flooded roads and practice the “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” safety message. Flood-related deaths often occur in vehicles, so motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution.
