Flash Flood Warnings Issued Across Southeastern Louisiana and Southern Mississippi

New Orleans, LA – Heavy thunderstorms have prompted multiple flash flood warnings across parts of southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi Monday afternoon, as torrential rains continue to pound the region.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued warnings for St. Tammany Parish, west-central Hancock County, and southwestern Pearl River County until 4:15 p.m. CST. Radar estimates show rainfall rates between 1 to 3 inches per hour, with an additional 1 to 3 inches expected. Areas such as Slidell, Picayune, and Covington are likely to see flooding in low-lying areas, highways, and urban spaces.

According to NWS officials, specific roads impacted include sections of Interstates 10, 12, and 59, with drivers urged to avoid flooded areas.

Meanwhile, a separate warning covers southern Ascension Parish, Assumption Parish, and nearby areas until 1 p.m. CST. Rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour have been reported, with localized flooding imminent in towns such as Donaldsonville and Laplace.

In south-central Louisiana, parts of Iberia, St. Martin, and St. Mary parishes are under a flash flood warning until 2:15 p.m. CST. The NWS reported saturated grounds from prior rains and new storms with rates up to 3 inches per hour.

Residents are advised to monitor local updates and avoid driving through flooded roads.
