Springfield, MO – The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for several counties in southwestern Missouri, effective until 7:15 a.m. Monday.
Thunderstorms have produced 1 to 2.2 inches of rain, prompting concerns about flash flooding in Barry, Christian, Douglas, Lawrence, Stone, Webster, and Wright counties.
According to the National Weather Service, flash flooding is expected to impact small creeks, streams, low-lying areas, and urban locations, including roads and underpasses. Locations such as Nixa, Ozark, Monett, and Mount Vernon may experience dangerous conditions. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and heed the warning: “Turn around, don’t drown.”
