Valdosta, GA – A flash flood warning has been issued for Lowndes County, including Valdosta, as heavy rainfall threatens to inundate local roads. The National Weather Service in Tallahassee announced that the warning will remain active until 11 p.m. ET on Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, the intense rainfall has created hazardous conditions, with floodwaters potentially covering roadways. Residents in the warning area are urged to avoid driving or walking through flooded areas to ensure their safety. Officials advise, “Turn around, don’t drown,” as floodwaters may rise quickly and unexpectedly.
Emergency services are prepared for potential rescues as the storm intensifies. Lowndes County officials have cautioned residents to stay updated through local media and weather channels, urging them to move to higher ground if necessary. The warning covers areas including Kinderlou, Dasher, and Lake Park, potentially impacting over 96,000 people.
Residents should remain vigilant, especially in low-lying regions, until the storm passes.
