Flagstaff, AZ – Residents of Northern Arizona should prepare for freezing temperatures, light snow, and gusty winds as a cold front sweeps through the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) reports the highest impact will occur along the US89 corridor from Cameron to Winona through Wednesday morning.
According to the NWS, patchy snow showers are expected Tuesday night into early Wednesday, with snowfall amounts of less than an inch in most areas. Winds from the northeast will increase, reaching gusts of up to 34 mph in some locations, potentially causing blowing snow and reduced visibility.
Motorists traveling along US89 are urged to drive cautiously, especially on untreated or icy roads. Dressing in layers and avoiding prolonged outdoor exposure is recommended as temperatures will drop to a low of 25°F Tuesday night and remain near freezing on Wednesday.
Looking ahead, conditions will improve by Wednesday night, with clear skies and calmer winds expected. The extended forecast shows sunny days on Thursday through Saturday, with daytime highs gradually rising from the mid-30s to near 48°F by the weekend. Nighttime temperatures will stay frigid, dipping to lows between 12°F and 19°F.
Travelers should stay updated on weather changes and plan for possible delays on major roadways. For detailed forecasts, visit weather.gov/Flagstaff.
