Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Warm, sunny skies won’t last long across southeastern Pennsylvania as a sharp spring cool-down and widespread showers arrive Friday night into Saturday. Drivers near I-76 and Route 1 in Philadelphia could face wet, slick conditions with an 80% chance of rain disrupting weekend plans.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will bring a pleasant high near 79°F under sunny skies with light southeast winds. But conditions begin shifting Friday afternoon as southerly winds increase and clouds roll in. Rain becomes likely after 8 p.m. Friday with new precipitation amounts potentially reaching a quarter inch overnight. Lows will dip to the low 60s.

Saturday continues the soggy trend, with a high near 76°F and a strong 80% chance of showers throughout the day. The NWS warns that rainfall could make travel hazardous across the Philadelphia metro area. By Saturday night, showers taper off, but temperatures will drop to a brisk 48°F under mostly clear skies.

Sunday will feel more like early spring again, with a sunny but cooler high of just 67°F. Low temps Sunday night fall into the mid-40s, and the dry pattern holds into early next week.
