Northern Indiana – The Great Lakes region may see its first snow of the season next weekend, just as holiday travel kicks into high gear. A weather system forecasted for Nov. 23-25 could bring light snow and strong winds to areas including Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.
According to the National Weather Service, a 20% chance of snow and a 40% chance of high winds are expected during this period. The snowfall is projected to be light, but combined with strong gusts, it could create hazardous conditions for those traveling ahead of Thanksgiving on Nov. 28. Major interstates such as I-80, I-90, and I-70 are likely to be affected by slick roads and reduced visibility.
Daytime highs will range from the mid-30s to low 40s, with overnight lows dropping below freezing, increasing the likelihood of icy conditions. Winds could gust up to 40 mph, potentially impacting flights and outdoor plans across the region.
While uncertainty remains about snowfall totals, early forecasts suggest preparing for possible travel delays. Drivers should keep an eye on updated forecasts and plan for extra time during their routes.
Stay tuned for weather updates as the Great Lakes region prepares for its first taste of winter.
