La Crosse, WI – Wisconsin is set to see its first glimpse of snowfall of the season this week as temperatures drop sharply following heavy rain. Residents near I-90 should prepare for wet roads transitioning to icy conditions by Wednesday night.
According to the National Weather Service, the weather pattern will start with unseasonably warm highs near 53°F on Monday. Rain will develop by afternoon, bringing gusts of up to 28 mph. Rainfall totals could reach up to half an inch, soaking much of the region. Conditions stay rainy through Tuesday, with highs climbing slightly to 57°F.
By Wednesday, the weather takes a wintry turn. Temperatures will drop to daytime highs of just 41°F, with rain transitioning to snow by evening. This will mark the first snowfall of the year for Wisconsin, with overnight lows falling below 30°F. Gusty winds may accompany the wintry mix, creating slick and hazardous travel conditions near major roadways, including I-90.
Thursday may see lingering flurries or light rain, with highs staying in the low 40s. Clouds will dominate the forecast through Friday, with highs near 39°F, reinforcing the winter chill.
Drivers are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare vehicles for winter travel. Icy spots are expected, especially overnight, making extra caution necessary for morning commutes. Residents should also secure outdoor furniture ahead of gusty winds early in the week.
