Denver, CO – A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for portions of Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico this weekend, as gusty winds and extremely low humidity increase the risk of rapid fire spread. The National Weather Service has issued the alert for areas in Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico from Saturday, April 12, 2025, to Sunday, April 13, 2025, between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. MST/MDT.

In Arizona, areas including Tucson, Pima County, and the Tohono O’odham Nation face high fire danger due to winds from the southwest reaching up to 35 mph combined with relative humidity dropping to as low as 3%. These conditions are expected to create a dangerous environment for wildfire spread.

Meanwhile, in Colorado, the southern Front Range foothills, South Park, and portions of adjacent plains are under similar fire weather warnings. Winds of up to 40 mph combined with relative humidity as low as 8% will create favorable conditions for rapid fire growth.

New Mexico is also at risk, particularly in the Southwest Mountains, the Upper Rio Grande Valley, and other regions. Winds between 20 and 40 mph, with humidity below 10%, are expected, putting local communities at high risk for fire spread.

Residents and outdoor enthusiasts are urged to avoid activities that could spark a fire. Stay updated for potential Red Flag Warnings and listen to local authorities for further safety instructions.
