Minneapolis, Minnesota – The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a warning for elevated fire danger across Minnesota due to a stretch of unseasonably warm temperatures, strong winds, and low humidity. These conditions are expected to persist through Wednesday, creating an environment conducive to rapid fire spread.

According to the NWS, temperatures will climb into the mid-80s to low 90s for much of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday, combined with breezy winds that will further heighten fire risks. With very low humidity levels, outdoor burning is strongly discouraged to prevent any fires from spreading quickly.

Specific areas affected include open fields, grassy areas, and regions with dry vegetation. Those living in rural areas or near wooded regions should be particularly cautious. The NWS advises the public to refrain from burning yard waste and to be mindful of any sparks that may ignite surrounding dry grass.

By Thursday, widespread rain is expected, bringing cooler temperatures to the region. The wet weather could significantly reduce fire risks, though brief thunderstorms may accompany the rain.

Stay tuned for updates as conditions change over the next few days, with fire advisories possibly extending into Wednesday.
