Burlington, VT – Vermont residents woke up to fresh snowfall as a winter storm wrapped up on February 7. The system, which was expected to transition to freezing drizzle, instead delivered an extra one to two inches of snow.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, Central Vermont saw the highest totals, ranging from 4 to 7 inches. Other parts of the state recorded between 2 and 5 inches. The heaviest snowfall hit the southern Green Mountains and higher elevations.
Road crews worked overnight to clear highways and local streets. Travel remained slow in some areas, but improving weather conditions helped mitigate further disruptions.
Cold temperatures will persist, keeping roads icy in spots. Officials advise drivers to use caution, especially in shaded or untreated areas.
While the storm has passed, winter isn’t over yet. Forecasters are monitoring another potential system later this week. Residents should stay updated on weather alerts and prepare for additional snow.
