Temperatures are expected to soar to 96 degrees in some parts of the city. The warning is in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Coastal regions will see lower temperatures but remain in the mid-80s.
According to the NWS, the excessive heat will pose a risk to health, especially for those vulnerable to high temperatures. They advise staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities, and keeping cool. The heat warning will transition to a heat advisory at 8 p.m. Wednesday and remain in effect until 11 p.m.
Residents should limit outdoor activities during the day and ensure pets and children are never left unattended in vehicles. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends regular breaks for those working outdoors.
With temperatures soaring, the public is reminded to stay alert to signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Call 911 if anyone experiences symptoms of heat-related illness.
