Austin, TX – A strong Arctic air mass is expected to bring freezing temperatures to Central Texas next week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Residents in cities like Austin, Fredericksburg, and San Antonio should prepare for below-average temperatures beginning Monday.

NWS forecasts indicate a 65% chance of freezing temperatures in Austin by Tuesday, climbing to 75% by Wednesday. Fredericksburg faces an even higher likelihood, with up to 80% chance of temperatures dropping below 32°F. Meanwhile, precipitation chances remain low, ranging between 10% and 25% throughout the region.

NWS cautions against overreacting to extreme weather models circulating online. “It’s too early to determine if winter precipitation will occur,” officials stated. They recommend staying tuned to official updates and preparing for potential cold conditions.

Residents should bundle up, protect outdoor plants, and ensure pets are safe indoors. With high-impact weather possible, local preparedness is key to minimizing disruptions.
