Eureka, Calif. – Northwest California is heating up under clear skies Friday as inland highs soar near 90°F, while cooler marine air keeps coastal communities in the upper 50s to low 60s.
According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, inland cities like Red Bluff, Chico, and Stockton will reach 88–90°F by mid-afternoon with zero chance of precipitation. Meanwhile, cities along the coast—such as Eureka (58°F) and Fort Bragg (59°F)—will stay breezy and cool under mostly sunny skies.
In Redding, temperatures will rise to 89°F, prompting officials to encourage residents to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak heat. Further south, Fairfield and Sacramento will also see temps in the mid-80s with abundant sunshine. McKinleyville, Arcata, and Eureka will remain under light cloud cover through the morning, clearing by late day.
Though no heat advisories are in effect, travelers heading east from coastal zones should prepare for a sharp temperature jump beyond the coastal range. Light morning fog may also reduce visibility briefly near Point Arena and Arcata.
Conditions remain dry across the region, with no rain in sight through the weekend.
