El Paso, TX – Thunderstorms are expected across the El Paso area today, bringing much-needed relief from the ongoing heat. Residents along I-10 and Highway 54 should be prepared for strong winds and scattered thunderstorms starting this afternoon. Temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 93°F, with winds gusting from the south-southwest between 10 and 20 mph.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), there is a 15% to 40% chance of thunderstorms today, particularly east of the Rio Grande. Drivers should exercise caution as thunderstorms may cause reduced visibility and slick road conditions. Temperatures will remain above average through Friday, with heat continuing into Saturday before a slight cooldown. Highs on Saturday are forecast around 90°F, while Sunday will bring cooler temperatures in the mid-80s.

NWS recommends that residents stay updated on weather alerts and secure outdoor objects that could be affected by strong winds. Looking ahead, next week is expected to bring sunny skies, with temperatures gradually dropping into the low 80s by Wednesday.
