Spokane, Washington – A sweltering start to the week is pushing temperatures into the triple digits across central and eastern Washington, with cities like Chelan, Moses Lake, and Wenatchee peaking near or above 100°F through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, a brief but intense early summer heatwave will stretch from Sunday through midweek, with highs reaching 101°F in Chelan and Moses Lake by Monday. Wenatchee will also see a scorching 100°F, while Spokane, Pullman, and Coeur d’Alene climb into the low-to-mid 90s.

The hottest days will be Monday and Tuesday, affecting travel, outdoor work, and health, particularly for vulnerable groups. Cities like Omak, Republic, and Lewiston are all under heat advisories. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, and check on elderly neighbors. Cooling centers may open in several counties if conditions persist.

Fortunately, relief is on the horizon. Temperatures are expected to drop back into the 70s and low 80s starting Thursday, offering a much-needed cooldown just in time for weekend plans.
