Philadelphia, PA – Severe thunderstorms are expected to impact eastern Pennsylvania late Monday afternoon into Monday night, bringing the threat of damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and localized flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, conditions will become increasingly favorable for severe weather beginning Monday evening, especially across the I-95 corridor including Philadelphia, Allentown, Reading, and Wilmington. Areas in the slight risk zone may experience storms capable of producing brief tornadoes and wind gusts exceeding 60 mph.

The strongest storms are forecast to develop during the late afternoon hours and persist into the overnight period. Flash flooding may occur in low-lying or poorly drained areas due to intense downpours associated with the storm system.

Residents in affected areas should remain alert and monitor weather updates throughout the day. Secure outdoor items, review emergency plans, and have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially after dark.

This system is part of a broader active weather pattern sweeping across the Mid-Atlantic. Historically, early spring brings an increased risk for severe storms in the region, though tornado activity remains uncommon.
