Pendleton, OR – A cold front is expected to sweep across eastern Oregon Wednesday, bringing gusty winds and showers to Pendleton and surrounding areas. Residents should prepare for wind speeds reaching up to 40 mph in some locations, with isolated thunderstorms also in the forecast.
According to the National Weather Service, the strongest winds will occur late in the afternoon, with peak gusts likely between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Blowing dust may reduce visibility, especially in areas along U.S. Route 395 and Interstate 84. Thunderstorms could cause brief downpours, hail, and strong outflow winds. Motorists are advised to drive with caution and be prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions.
Additionally, temperatures will drop significantly from Tuesday’s highs in the 90s. By Wednesday night, cooler temperatures and rain will usher in a much cooler pattern for the rest of the week. Pendleton residents can expect highs in the mid-70s on Thursday, followed by cooler but sunnier conditions heading into the weekend.
