Pendleton, OR – Freezing rain and heavy snow are set to impact parts of eastern Oregon this Friday, creating hazardous travel conditions. The National Weather Service warns that a warm front will bring significant snow above 6,000 feet, while lower elevations may see icy roads and freezing rain.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, the highest risk for snow and freezing rain includes areas along the Cascade Highways and into north-central Oregon. Motorists should prepare for delays, reduced visibility, and icy roads. Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and monitor local advisories.

Rain will begin overnight Thursday, transitioning to freezing rain and snow by Friday morning. Accumulations up to a quarter inch of ice are possible in affected areas, posing risks to power lines and tree branches. Temperatures are expected to remain around 34°F on Friday night, keeping roads slick into Saturday.
