Pendleton, OR – A significant winter storm is set to impact eastern Oregon and Washington, bringing heavy snow and gusty winds through Friday evening. The National Weather Service has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories for the Blue Mountains, Central Oregon, and the Columbia River Gorge, warning of difficult travel conditions and potential power disruptions.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, snow will begin early Thursday morning and continue through Friday, with 5 to 10 inches expected in higher elevations and 2 to 4 inches in lower regions. Winds could gust up to 50 mph in some areas, leading to blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Key areas affected include Meacham, Ukiah, Walla Walla, Bend, La Grande, and The Dalles, with road conditions expected to deteriorate, especially along U.S. Highway 20 and Cabbage Hill. The Thursday morning and evening commutes could be hazardous.

Travelers are urged to check road conditions at tripcheck.com (Oregon) or wsdot.wa.gov (Washington) before heading out. Officials recommend carrying an emergency kit, extra blankets, and food supplies in case of delays. The advisory remains in effect until 10 PM Friday.
