Tulsa, OK – A winter storm warning remains in effect across eastern Oklahoma until noon Friday, with total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches expected in affected areas. Forecasters warn of dangerous travel conditions, especially along major routes like I-44, as snow continues to blanket the region overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall began Thursday evening, intensifying across southeastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Roads, bridges, and overpasses are becoming hazardous, with icy surfaces increasing the risk of accidents. Drivers are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and keep an emergency kit on hand, including flashlights, water, and blankets.

Looking Ahead

The storm is expected to taper off Friday afternoon, bringing partly cloudy skies with highs near 34 degrees. Saturday will bring sunny conditions, with temperatures reaching 39 degrees, providing some relief from the winter weather. Overnight lows, however, will remain chilly, dipping into the mid-20s.

Sunday looks to continue the clear weather pattern, with sunny skies and highs in the low 40s. The start of the workweek will see cooler temperatures, with highs only reaching the mid-30s on Monday, accompanied by calm winds.

Safety Reminder

Residents should monitor updates from the National Weather Service and check okroads.org for the latest road conditions. Travelers are encouraged to delay trips until the warning expires and roads are cleared.
