Pittsburgh, PA – Drivers in eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania could face dangerous low visibility early Thursday as patchy fog settles in overnight, potentially cutting visibility to less than a mile in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, Zanesville (70% chance), Wheeling (60%), and Pittsburgh (50%) are among the areas most likely to see dense fog develop before sunrise. Morgantown and New Philadelphia each have a 40% chance, while Du Bois sits lower at 20%. The fog is expected to linger through 7 a.m. Thursday.

Travelers along I-70, I-79, and other regional roadways should be ready for sudden drops in visibility, especially in valleys, near rivers, and on rural stretches. Overnight drizzle and low clouds will enhance fog formation, particularly in low-lying zones.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra space between vehicles. In high-risk areas like Zanesville and Wheeling, consider delaying non-essential travel until later in the morning.

Fog will begin lifting after sunrise, but isolated pockets may persist through mid-morning. Stay alert for updated advisories if conditions worsen.
