Carter Lake, Iowa – Thunderstorms could disrupt Thursday plans in western Iowa as showers move in by early afternoon and linger into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, there’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Thursday, with a high near 74°F. Calm wind becomes southeast around 6 mph by the afternoon, increasing the chance of scattered downpours along roadways like I-29 and Route 6. Residents are urged to delay outdoor plans and monitor local alerts.

Friday brings a slight thunderstorm chance again after 1 p.m., with partly sunny skies and a high near 76°F. Winds shift northeast at 5 mph. If you’re traveling or working outdoors, be prepared for changing conditions and keep electronics charged in case of lightning-related power flickers.

Rain remains possible Saturday, especially before 1 a.m. with scattered storms expected. Skies become partly cloudy by daybreak with highs near 80°F. West wind increases to 6–10 mph, gusting higher by evening.

By Sunday, relief arrives with sunshine and highs near 83°F. Monday continues the warming trend with near-86°F highs and southwesterly breezes.
