Eastern Kentucky – Warm, sunny conditions will give way to a potential storm system Friday evening, threatening showers and thunderstorms north of the Mountain Parkway. Residents and travelers are urged to prepare for rapidly changing weather, as the area could experience rain, gusty winds, and possibly lightning into the night.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a cold front will approach by late Friday, increasing the chance of storms to 30% after a warm day with highs reaching 81°F. These storms are likely to affect areas north of the Mountain Parkway, with scattered showers lingering into early Saturday. Drivers should exercise caution, especially along the Parkway, as wet roads and reduced visibility could create hazardous conditions.

The weekend will usher in cooler, dry conditions as high pressure builds back into the region. Saturday will see temperatures drop into the mid-60s, with lingering morning showers tapering off. By Sunday, mostly sunny skies and seasonable highs of 66°F are forecast. Nighttime lows across the weekend could dip as low as 31°F, particularly in higher elevations.

Looking ahead to next week, Monday is expected to be sunny and slightly warmer, with highs in the mid-70s. Residents should monitor weather updates, especially those planning weekend travel or outdoor activities, as conditions could change.
