Charleston, WV – A cold air mass will settle over the region tonight, bringing rain to lowland areas and snow showers to the higher elevations of West Virginia, southern Ohio, and eastern Kentucky.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, WV, light precipitation will persist through the night, with temperatures dropping into the low to mid-30s across much of the area. Snow accumulations of up to 1 inch are possible in mountainous regions, including areas near Elkins and Beckley, through 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Rain will continue across the lowlands while the snow becomes isolated to mountain zones. Wednesday is expected to remain chilly and mostly dry, though forecasters note a chance of isolated showers in far southern and western West Virginia, northeast Kentucky, and southern Ohio.

Daytime highs on Wednesday will rebound into the upper 40s and low 50s for most communities, offering a modest reprieve. A more noticeable warm-up is expected Thursday as a warm front approaches, potentially pushing temperatures into the 60s.

Drivers in higher elevations should use caution on untreated roads early Wednesday. Residents are advised to monitor local alerts and allow extra travel time in snow-affected zones. Showers are expected to return late Thursday.
