Jackson, KY – Heavy rains and strong winds are expected to sweep through Eastern Kentucky starting Friday, as the remnants of Hurricane Helene approach the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, Kentucky, issued a weather outlook warning of possible severe weather conditions, especially in higher elevations.

According to the NWS, a stationary boundary will keep rain in the area throughout the day. The effects of Hurricane Helene are predicted to hit by Friday, bringing isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds. These conditions are likely to persist into the weekend, with rain chances decreasing by Saturday. Friday’s high temperatures are expected to range between 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit, while the lows could drop to the 60s.

Eastern Kentucky residents are urged to stay weather aware and check for further updates. The NWS advises taking precautions in case of severe weather, particularly in flood-prone areas. Rain and wind are likely to taper off by Sunday, but showers may still occur.
