Kansas City, Missouri – A stretch of calm weather is expected across northwest and central Missouri through Thursday night, but storm chances will return by Saturday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, there is a low probability of widespread hazardous weather through tonight. The advisory covers the Kansas City metro area, as well as counties stretching from Buchanan to Pettis and into extreme eastern Kansas, including Atchison and Miami counties.
While skies remain mostly clear through Friday, isolated showers and thunderstorms could develop after 1 p.m. Saturday, particularly in areas like Liberty, Independence, and Harrisonville. Wind gusts may reach up to 8 mph, and precipitation chances increase again Monday into Tuesday, with some storms potentially severe by midweek.
Drivers are advised to monitor changing conditions, especially if traveling on I-70 or US-69 over the weekend. Residents should ensure weather alerts are enabled and prepare for shifting forecasts early next week.
The low-risk window ends tonight, but additional updates are expected as storm potential rises into the weekend.
