Colorado Springs, Colo. – Drivers across Colorado’s eastern plains, especially in El Paso County, should prepare for dense fog and dangerous visibility levels through 9 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, localized dense fog is reducing visibility to less than a quarter-mile in areas including Colorado Springs and surrounding rural highways. The advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m., urging motorists to slow down, allow extra travel time, and increase stopping distances on their morning commute.

El Paso County and nearby communities such as Fountain and Calhan are experiencing the thickest fog. The low visibility may impact travel on major routes like I-25 and Highway 24, particularly during peak commuting hours.

Officials recommend using headlights, avoiding high speeds, and being especially cautious at intersections or rural roads without traffic signals. Similar fog events in this region have led to increased crash risks during early morning hours.

Fog is expected to lift mid-morning, but drivers should remain alert for changing conditions. Additional visibility hazards are possible outside the advisory area, and updates will follow if conditions worsen.
