Melbourne, Florida – Strong to severe storms are expected to impact Florida’s east coast beginning around 3 p.m. Monday, bringing threats of coin-sized hail, 55 mph winds, and isolated tornadoes along the sea breeze.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a Level 2 out of 5 risk zone is in effect for much of East Central Florida, including Brevard County and the Treasure Coast. The most dangerous weather is likely between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., especially in coastal areas from Titusville and Melbourne down to Vero Beach and Stuart.

Residents should prepare for damaging gusts, with a 5–10% chance of wind exceeding 60 mph, and a 15–25% chance for hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter. Brief tornadoes are possible near the coastline, especially where sea breeze boundaries develop. Dangerous lightning and localized heavy rainfall may disrupt travel and outdoor plans.

Stay indoors during storms, charge electronic devices, and monitor alerts from NOAA Weather Radio or emergency apps. East Coast cities could see power outages or downed limbs during peak activity.

Warnings remain possible into the evening as conditions evolve. Stay alert for real-time updates through local weather sources.
