Melbourne, FL – Residents across East Central Florida are urged to prepare for freezing temperatures tonight as a Freeze Warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. Friday for northern Lake and inland Volusia counties. Frost is also expected in coastal Volusia, Seminole, and Orange counties, with temperatures plunging as low as 30 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, sensitive vegetation and exposed pipes are at risk of damage, while outdoor pets should be brought indoors. Friday morning’s low temperatures mark the coldest so far this season, and precautions should be taken now.

A gradual warm-up is expected over the weekend, with Saturday bringing highs near 69 degrees and a slight chance of showers in the afternoon. Saturday night will remain chilly, with lows dipping to the upper 40s. Sunday promises sunny skies and a high near 66, although overnight lows will hover in the mid-50s.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will continue to bring cooler conditions, with highs in the mid-60s and nighttime lows remaining in the low 50s. Gusty winds may add to the chill, particularly early in the week.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and continue safeguarding outdoor plants, pets, and pipes throughout the weekend. Stay alert for frost advisories in the mornings, particularly in frost-prone areas.
