DULUTH, Minn. – A stretch of windy, unsettled fall weather continues across northern Minnesota, with the next round of rain showers building Sunday and peaking Sunday evening into Monday morning. The National Weather Service in Duluth said gusty northwest to southeast winds will persist through early next week, occasionally reaching 20 to 30 mph, before easing by Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service Duluth office, Saturday will be the lone dry day in the period, with highs in the low 50s and partly sunny skies. Showers become likely Sunday afternoon, rising to a 50–70% chance by night as a frontal system crosses the region. Light to moderate rainfall is expected overnight into early Monday, especially along the North Shore and the Iron Range.
Travelers on Highway 53, I-35, and along the North Shore should prepare for wet pavement and reduced visibility during the Sunday night to Monday morning commute window. Winds will shift from southeast to northwest behind the system, maintaining brisk conditions through Monday.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, check for possible power flickers during stronger gusts, and keep rain gear handy for the workweek’s start. The cooler pattern behind the front will settle in by Tuesday, with highs falling into the 40s under partly cloudy skies.
