Dodge City, KS – Snow and freezing conditions are set to disrupt travel in southwest Kansas on Monday, with snowfall of up to two inches expected in areas south of Highway 400. Drivers should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility during the day.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Dodge City, the Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Monday. Snowfall is expected to begin early in the morning, impacting commutes and travel along major roadways. Winds between 15-20 mph may worsen visibility, particularly on exposed stretches of Highway 400.

The NWS advises residents to reduce travel, slow down, and allow extra time if driving. Bridges and overpasses are likely to freeze first, creating treacherous conditions. The snow will taper off by evening, but temperatures are set to plummet overnight.

Cold Weather Advisory

A Cold Weather Advisory will also take effect Monday evening, warning of wind chills as low as -24°F. The dangerously cold temperatures could cause frostbite on exposed skin within 30 minutes. Residents are urged to bundle up, wearing hats, gloves, and layers, and to avoid outdoor exposure if possible.
