Honolulu, HI –Will Hawaii change its clocks this weekend? While most of the country turns clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, Hawaii will not. The Aloha State has opted out of Daylight Saving Time for more than 50 years, meaning residents in Honolulu, Hilo, Kahului, and Līhuʻe keep the same time year-round.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Hawaii remains on Hawaii Standard Time (HST) throughout the year. The islands’ location near the equator keeps daylight hours fairly consistent, eliminating the need for seasonal time shifts.

So while states like California and Washington “fall back” one hour this weekend, Hawaii’s clocks will stay the same. On Sunday, Honolulu’s sunrise will occur around 6:35 a.m., with sunset near 5:52 p.m.

Officials still recommend using the national time change weekend as a reminder to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace batteries if needed — a safety tip encouraged nationwide.

Daylight Saving Time will return for most of the U.S. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, but Hawaii will once again remain on standard time year-round.
