Fort Worth, Texas – Flash flooding and strong thunderstorms will continue to hammer North Texas on Tuesday, with the heaviest impact expected through the evening commute in Fort Worth.

According to the National Weather Service, a Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday, with a Severe Thunderstorm Watch active until 5 a.m. Damaging winds, frequent lightning, and localized flooding are the biggest threats, especially along low-lying areas and major routes like I-35 and I-20. Up to two inches of rain could fall within short bursts, making roads hazardous during peak travel times.

Crews are urging residents to avoid travel during heavy downpours. “Turn around, don’t drown” remains critical advice as water rises quickly on underpasses and feeder roads across Tarrant, Denton, and Johnson counties. Emergency managers stress charging phones and preparing for possible outages tonight and into early Tuesday.

Tuesday’s forecast calls for isolated storms through mid-morning, followed by partly sunny skies and a high near 82°F. Winds will shift from the north, calming to around 5 mph by the afternoon. No additional alerts are currently issued for Tuesday night, though lingering moisture may prompt pop-up showers.
