Fort Worth, TX – North Texas faces a heightened risk of severe weather beginning Friday night, with potential tornadoes and damaging winds extending into Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, multiple rounds of storms are forecast from late Friday through Sunday morning. The most intense period is expected overnight Friday into Saturday, with conditions favorable for large hail, wind gusts exceeding 60 mph, and isolated tornadoes, especially across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding counties.

Residents in areas including Gainesville, Paris, and Cisco should remain alert. The threat continues into Saturday as a frontal system pushes through the region, increasing instability. By Sunday morning, the severe threat is expected to shift southeast toward Waco and Palestine.

Rainfall totals from Friday night through Sunday could reach 2.5 inches in areas north of I-20, with isolated amounts nearing 3.5 inches. Flooding may occur in low-lying and poor drainage zones.

Residents are urged to avoid low water crossings, stay weather-aware, and monitor updates from the NWS. Outdoor plans should include backup options as storms may disrupt activities throughout the weekend.
