Detroit, MI – Drivers across southeast Michigan face challenging conditions today as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Lake-effect snow has blanketed the region, with 3-5 inches accumulating overnight, creating hazardous travel along the I-96 and I-696 corridors.
According to the National Weather Service, an additional 1-2 inches of snow is expected this morning, especially south of M-59. Strong wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph are reducing visibility, and untreated roads are particularly treacherous. Commuters are urged to allow extra travel time and drive with caution as snow squalls persist through the morning.
Stay updated on weather alerts and plan for the week ahead as another system could bring light snow early next week.
