Des Moines, IA – Travelers across Central Iowa should prepare for rainy weather Wednesday, followed by a freezing Thanksgiving and potential weekend snow. The National Weather Service warns that temperatures will drop significantly, impacting road conditions and holiday travel.
According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, Wednesday will bring mostly cloudy skies and a high of 43°F. Light rain is likely during the afternoon, especially south of Des Moines along I-35. Overnight lows will fall to 23°F, making early morning travel slick.
Thanksgiving Day will be dry but frigid, with a high near 34°F and brisk winds from the north. Colder conditions will intensify Thursday night, with lows dipping to 15°F. Friday’s forecast offers some sun, but highs will struggle to reach 27°F.
