Denver, CO – Strong winds are sweeping across eastern and central Colorado, with gusts reaching up to 70 mph, prompting a High Wind Warning through 5 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver and Pueblo, high winds are expected to impact cities including Fort Collins, Greeley, Fort Morgan, Sterling, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Trinidad. Northern and southeastern parts of the state, including Lincoln and Kiowa counties, will also experience hazardous conditions.

The warning, in effect since early Tuesday morning, includes sustained winds of 35 to 50 mph, with the strongest gusts expected in Lincoln and southeastern Colorado. The NWS warns that unsecured objects may be blown around, and power outages are possible due to downed trees and power lines. High-profile vehicles traveling through open areas, particularly along Interstate 25 and U.S. Highway 50, should exercise extreme caution.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor furniture, avoid unnecessary travel, and remain in lower levels of their homes to minimize risk from falling debris.
