Denver, Colorado – Denver residents can expect a warm end to the workweek as temperatures climb into the 70s Friday, with isolated afternoon thunderstorms possible in the foothills and high country.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, highs on Friday will range from 71–79°F across the eastern Plains, 56–64°F in the foothills, and 55–65°F in the mountain valleys. Afternoon storms have a 40–60% chance of developing in higher elevations, particularly west of the Continental Divide. Plains areas are expected to stay mostly dry under partly cloudy skies.

The warm, above-normal trend will hold through Tuesday before a cooler pattern arrives midweek. While no major hazards are forecast, residents in areas like Boulder, Nederland, and Estes Park should remain alert for sudden afternoon storms that could produce brief downpours or lightning, especially along trail routes or mountain roads like U.S. 36 and CO-119.

Drivers and hikers in the foothills should plan for changing weather after 2 p.m., and anyone heading into the high country should pack for both sun and sudden rain. The NWS advises checking radar updates and delaying outdoor plans if thunder is heard.

Temperatures are expected to climb even higher this weekend, with additional updates coming as thunderstorm chances evolve.
