Hastings, NE – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until Sunday at 8 a.m., impacting central and south-central Nebraska and portions of north-central Kansas. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution as visibility has been reduced to a quarter mile or less, creating hazardous driving conditions. Freezing temperatures are also causing icy spots on untreated roads, bridges, and sidewalks.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, dense fog is expected to linger through early Sunday morning before dissipating later in the day. The freezing fog, combined with temperatures in the mid-20s, increases the risk of slick conditions. Drivers should slow down, use headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles to avoid accidents.

The outlook for the upcoming week shows improving conditions. Skies are expected to clear Sunday afternoon with a high near 46 degrees, followed by a mostly clear Sunday night and temperatures dipping to 29 degrees.

Monday: Sunny with a high of 49 degrees and light northwest winds.

Monday Night: Mostly clear with a low around 27 degrees.

Tuesday: Partly sunny with highs reaching 48 degrees, though nighttime lows will drop to 18 degrees.

Wednesday: Clear skies and cooler, with highs in the upper 30s.

Thursday: A sunny forecast continues, with temperatures reaching the low 40s.

Residents should remain cautious of freezing fog early Sunday and allow extra travel time. Warmer, sunnier weather midweek will help alleviate icy conditions.
