Nebraska-Iowa Border – Motorists in the Missouri River Valley and along Interstate 29 are facing a dense fog advisory this morning. Visibility has dropped below a quarter of a mile in areas near the Nebraska-Iowa state line, making driving hazardous. Commuters are advised to reduce speed, turn on headlights, and keep a safe following distance to avoid collisions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Omaha/Valley office, the advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. today. The fog is particularly dense in river valleys, where cooler temperatures near the water have intensified visibility issues. Drivers should expect slowdowns and potential delays on routes near the Missouri River, especially on I-29 and nearby roadways.
The foggy conditions are expected to ease mid-morning, leading to mostly cloudy skies with a high near 55°F on Thursday. Thursday night will bring patchy fog again, followed by mostly cloudy conditions with lows around 38°F. Clearer skies and mild temperatures are forecast for Friday, with highs reaching 55°F and a slight chance of showers in the afternoon.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Omaha will likely experience rainy conditions late Friday night through Saturday. Rain chances increase to 60% overnight Friday, with possible gusts up to 18 mph. Saturday remains cloudy with a high of 54°F and continued rain in the forecast. Temperatures will dip to 38°F on Saturday night as rain subsides and skies clear slightly.
