Hastings, NE – Drivers and residents across Nebraska woke up to dense fog Sunday morning, impacting visibility, particularly along Highway 6/34. As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the weather in Hastings will transition into a mix of sunny days and potential snow by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog in the Republican River Valley will persist through Sunday morning, especially near Beaver Creek and Prairie Dog Creek. Visibility has dropped to as low as three miles in some areas, with local travel cautioned until mid-morning when fog clears. By Monday, expect a significant shift to mostly sunny skies, with highs reaching 39°F.

Tuesday brings partly sunny conditions with a high of 45°F, but a noticeable cooldown follows. By Wednesday, a 30% chance of snow will move into the area, possibly impacting travel plans for Thanksgiving. Overnight temperatures Wednesday will dip to 18°F, leaving roads icy.

Thanksgiving Day itself should see sunny skies, but the high will only reach 35°F. Friday will be colder, with lows around 15°F and highs near 33°F.

Residents should plan travel cautiously, especially midweek, and prepare for colder conditions as the holiday nears. Be sure to monitor updated forecasts for potential changes to snow accumulation or road conditions.
