Little Rock, Ark. – Drivers across Arkansas could face dangerously low visibility before sunrise Thursday as dense fog settles over much of the state, especially in northern, central, and southern regions.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, fog is expected to persist until around 8 a.m. CDT, impacting travel on major routes including I-40, US-65, and Highway 67. Affected areas include Conway, Little Rock, Mountain Home, Searcy, and Hot Springs. Visibility could drop below a quarter-mile in some spots.
Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra space between vehicles. The Arkansas Department of Transportation advises avoiding sudden stops and using caution on elevated roadways and bridges, where fog can be denser.
This early June fog event follows a stretch of warm, humid evenings—a common setup for overnight fog. Rural valleys and low-lying areas, particularly near rivers and lakes, are most at risk for lingering visibility issues during the morning commute.
The fog should lift by mid-morning, but drivers are encouraged to allow extra time and check conditions before heading out. More weather updates are expected if visibility worsens overnight.
