Dense Fog and Frosty Roads Impact Alabama Drivers – Caution Advised on Overpasses

Birmingham, AL – Freezing fog is creating hazardous driving conditions across central Alabama this morning, with reduced visibility and slick spots on bridges and overpasses. Drivers should use caution, reduce speed, and allow extra travel time.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, the advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Visibility is down to a quarter-mile in some areas, and frost is forming on elevated surfaces, including I-65, I-20, and local highways. Officials urge motorists to use headlights and remain alert for sudden changes in visibility.

As the fog lifts later today, temperatures will rise to a high of 56°F with mostly sunny skies. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low of 38°F.

Looking ahead, Wednesday will be sunny with highs reaching 63°F, followed by increasing cloud cover Thursday. Rain chances return Thursday night, with showers expected Friday. Temperatures will remain mild, peaking in the upper 60s before cooling to the low 40s Friday night.
