Dense Fog Advisory Issued for Multiple Counties in West Virginia and Virginia Until 10 AM Saturday Morning

Charleston, WV – A dense fog advisory has been issued for several counties in West Virginia and Virginia, effective until 10 AM EDT Saturday, April 12, 2025. The advisory warns of reduced visibility to one-quarter mile or less, making driving conditions potentially hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory covers McDowell, Wyoming, Southeast Raleigh, Southeast Fayette, Southeast Nicholas, Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, and Southeast Randolph counties in West Virginia, including cities such as Mullens, War, Pineville, and Beckley.

A second advisory also extends across Tazewell County in Virginia and Mercer, Summers, and Western Greenbrier counties in West Virginia. Cities such as Bluefield, Rainelle, and Tazewell are included in this warning.

The dense fog is most likely to be situated across ridge tops at or above 2,500 feet in elevation, the weather service said. Motorists are advised to slow down, use headlights, and maintain safe distances while driving to avoid accidents.
