Philadelphia, PA – A dense fog advisory is affecting parts of Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, and other Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states Tuesday morning, significantly reducing visibility and creating hazardous travel conditions. Visibility is expected to drop to a quarter-mile or less in many areas, complicating the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will remain in effect until 9 a.m. for most regions, including Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Trenton, while areas in Maryland and Virginia, including Washington, D.C., may experience fog until noon. Dense fog blankets highways and local roads, posing risks for drivers.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time. The fog, caused by calm winds and high humidity, is expected to dissipate by late morning as temperatures rise.
