Philadelphia, PA – Temperatures across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware are climbing into the low to mid-80s Monday, but smoky haze from Canadian wildfires is dimming the sunshine for much of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, skies will remain mostly cloud-free under high pressure, but wildfire smoke drifting from Canada is expected to cause hazy conditions throughout the day. Visibility may be reduced at times, especially during the afternoon.

Philadelphia is expected to top out at 84°F, while Trenton and Reading will reach 83°F and 82°F respectively. In southern New Jersey, Atlantic City and Vineland will see highs around 81°F. Wilmington and Dover are also forecast to hit the low 80s. Residents from Mount Pocono to Cape May should prepare for reduced air quality and limit strenuous outdoor activity if sensitive to smoke.

While no air quality alerts are currently in effect, conditions could worsen depending on wind direction and density of the smoke plume. Those with asthma or respiratory issues are advised to monitor local air quality indices and keep windows closed if needed.

More haze is possible through Tuesday as smoke continues to drift south. Stay tuned to NWS updates for any air quality advisories.
