Rehoboth Beach, DE – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Delaware Beaches and Sussex County starting tonight. Snowfall is expected to create slippery road conditions, impacting travel through Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory begins at 10 p.m. Friday and continues until 1 p.m. Saturday. Forecasters anticipate up to two inches of snow accumulation. Areas including Rehoboth Beach and Georgetown will experience the heaviest snowfall overnight into the early morning hours.

The National Weather Service warns drivers to prepare for hazardous conditions, especially on untreated roads. Reduced visibility is also expected during periods of heavier snowfall. Residents are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling.

The snowfall marks one of the first winter weather events of the season in Delaware. Local road maintenance crews are preparing to salt and plow high-priority routes. However, minor delays and disruptions are likely during the early hours of Saturday.

Temperatures will remain near freezing, keeping snow accumulation steady overnight. The storm is forecasted to taper off by late Saturday morning, with conditions improving into the afternoon. However, lingering icy patches may still pose risks.

For the latest road conditions, travelers are encouraged to dial 511 or check their state’s transportation website. Residents should also monitor updates from the National Weather Service for potential changes to the forecast.

Stay alert and plan ahead if traveling this weekend.
