Wilmington, Delaware – Showers and possible thunderstorms are set to roll into Wilmington by early Friday afternoon, just in time to disrupt commutes along I-95 and local roads. Rain chances jump after 2 p.m., with gusty winds and brief downpours likely in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation on Friday could total less than a tenth of an inch, but storms may bring isolated higher amounts, especially south of the city. Winds will be calm early, increasing slightly from the south by late afternoon.

Weekend plans may need a backup. Saturday brings more showers starting mid-morning, with rain chances peaking between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thunderstorms are likely Saturday night, with rainfall potentially reaching a half-inch in spots. A similar pattern returns Monday, making this a soggy stretch for New Castle County.

Sunday looks somewhat drier, but Wilmington still faces a 40% chance of showers. Daytime highs will hover around the low 80s through Tuesday, with high humidity sticking around.

⚠️ Weather alerts may be issued if storms intensify. Stay tuned through the weekend.
